Membership in the American Women's Club is divided into four types:
Women who hold an American passport and live in the Oslo area are welcome to join the American Women's Club as regular members.
Women who do not qualify to join as a regular member (above), but speak English and are sponsored by a regular member of the American Women's Club are welcome to join the American Women's Club as associate members. Club membership can be up to 25% associate members.
Women who do not live close to Oslo but would otherwise qualify for regular or associate membership as described above are welcome to join the American Women's Club as satellite members. Satellite members may not participate in Club voting, nor hold office.
Former Club members who have moved outside of Norway, but wish to retain some aspects of Club membership, such as receipt of the newsletter, website access, and Facebook group access are welcome to join the American Women's Club as alumnae members. Alumnae members may not participate in Club voting, nor hold office.
NB: Our application forms ask you to tell us a bit about yourself. We are not judging you, we are simply getting to know you. Aside from your name, your citizenship and your contact details, the other fields are optional.
When you become a member of the American Women's Club of Oslo, you automatically become a member of FAWCO (formerly, the Federation of American Women's Clubs Overseas). Your details are not shared with FAWCO: you will need to register with them yourself.
The information you provide is shared with other members of the Club via our online Membership Directory, accessible only to Members who are logged in to our website. We do not share your personal information with any third parties.
We are an all-volunteer organization. Depending on the Membership Coordinator's schedule, being "approved" as new member can take anywhere between a few days to a couple of weeks. Please be patient and don't worry, we are looking forward to meeting you!
