Join us for our February member meeting on Tuesday, 11 Feburary, where we will focus on the latter (and definitely not the former!) along with a Valentine's Day activity. We will welcome Tax Advisor Nina Endresen from Værnes Advokatfirma as a speaker for a 45 min tax talk and Q&A, followed by our activity. 'Tis the season to think about love and taxes!

Nina Endresen, our speaker, writes:

I have many years of experience working with the Norwegian Tax Administration, where the tax treaty between Norway and the United States was one of my areas of expertise. Today, I work at a law firm specializing in the same topic.

Unfortunately, I often see that many Americans living in Norway misunderstand their tax obligations to Norway, and in many cases, this can become very expensive if the Norwegian Tax Administration discovers the mistake. Norway and the United States also have exchange agreements, meaning that information you might not provide correctly to Norwegian authorities can be received unsolicited by the Tax Administration from the IRS.

Norwegian tax obligations apply to all American citizens living in Norway, as well as those with dual citizenship. This applies to individuals of all ages.

My goal is for as many people as possible to understand their obligations, ensuring they pay the correct amount of tax – neither too much nor too little.
