Augustenborg Gård lies on the southwest coast of Jeløy (about an hour south of Oslo) featuring stone walls, avenues of ancient lime trees, and rolling hills down to the fjord. AWC member Sarah Øverland has been restoring and running the farm with her husband since 2019. In 2020 she planted a peony field with 1200 plants of 20 different varieties. Those plants are finally maturing and ready to harvest, and in June the peony field will be gorgeous!

Join us Wednesday June 12th at 6pm in the peony field to pick your own! Those who are interested in a farm tour, meet at 4pm sharp in front of the main house. The farm features a stony beach where a sea battle took place in 1221, a herd of hereford cows and their calves born this spring, a vineyard, a brand new foal, a short climb (350moh) to Røedsåsen where we can see Oslo on a clear day, and much more. Learn a little about regenerative farming and the ups and downs of taking on a run-down historic property.

Attendees can take home 5 free peonies they pick themselves.  You are welcome to pick more, they cost 20 kr a stem. Bring a bucket to take them home in. If you have garden snips or scissors, bring those too, though Sarah will have some available to borrow. Those coming on the tour: we will be walking a lot, bring weather appropriate clothing and good shoes!

If the weather is nice, take along a picnic for after the peony picking - you are welcome to enjoy it on the beach, Furulund, where the sunset is fantastic.

Space is limited to AWC members. Public transport is challenging, so the special activities coordinator will assist with organizing ridesharing!
