Welcome to this year´s first Topical Tea!!

FAWCO´s current Target Project is:

Empowering Women and Girls Through Knowledge and Skills.

With that in mind, we are lucky to have Johanna Higgs, an Australian Anthropologist and founder of The MonMa Project come speak with us.

"Project MonMa is a non-profit organization that focuses on providing, hope, encouragement and empowerment to women affected by violence and discrimination. At Project MonMa, we want to inspire all women to live their lives in a way where they can make their own choices, follow their dreams and live their life free from violence and discrimination.”

Higgs will give a talk about some of the very specific forms of violence that women are facing in places she has visited such as how the presence of ISIS has affected women in Iraq and sexual harassment of school girls in Mozambique. She will also tell us about the work she has done with Project MonMa to help improve women’s lives.

We will be raising money for FAWCO´s project, so a small entrance fee of 50kr will be asked of you. For that you will be provided coffee, tea and sweet treats, in addition to Johanna´s talk.

The Event will be held at Ginny Hubert´s home (Holmenkollveien 42B) Friday the 10th of Feb at 18:00.  Because of limited space, we ask that you RSVP.

This is a unique opportunity to get a truly global perspective on the status of women. You can get a taste of the knowledge Higgs has to share by checking out some of her articles on this site covering the UN: http://www.passblue.com/author/johanna-higgs/
